Our client is a publicly listed company offering a comprehensive range of mechanical, electrical, and street lighting services.
One of the key challenges faced by local authorities and national infrastructure operators was the lack of a comprehensive overview of the services provided, which led to delays in making optimal operational decisions.
To address these challenges, city officials and local authorities opted to develop an integrated solution — a ‘Smart City’ platform — for managing their infrastructure.

Solution

Our team of experts thoroughly examined the project and analyzed the key challenges faced by the authorities. Based on these findings, Asatasoft developed the “Smart City” platform — a web-based, cloud-hosted, serverless solution designed to help infrastructure operators and council services gain data-driven insights and act on them efficiently and effectively.

Node.js was selected as the primary backend technology, offering seamless scalability for this data-intensive platform. The development has successfully laid the foundation for a minimum viable product (MVP) along with its essential features.

For the front end, our in-house UI/UX design team opted for React.js to build highly responsive and user-friendly interfaces.

Below are the core features of the “Smart City” platform:

Devices Management

Enables integration of IoT-enabled devices into the platform, allowing it to receive real-time data directly from those devices.

Certificate

Enables the generation of device certificates to ensure secure communication between the devices and the platform.

Alarms

The platform supports real-time alarm notifications from devices, ensuring authorities are instantly informed and can take timely action.

IoT Communication

Enables IoT-enabled devices to seamlessly communicate with the platform using standardized IoT protocols and technologies.

ETL

Allows users to configure Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) services to import data from any third-party API into the platform.

Map

Enables visualization of all devices on an interactive map using real-time data in a graphical format.

Dashboard

Provides smart data insights to support informed actions and decisions, allowing users to create various types of analytical dashboards for data visualization.

Feeds

Enables external users to access and consume measurement data as a data feed.

Export

Allows users to export measurement data from devices.

App Store

Enables creation and hosting of third-party applications that can benefit other users in the future.

Billing Insights

Offers billing metrics and detailed, date-wise calculations for the current month based on resource usage.

Asatasoft developed this efficient “Smart City” solution for our client, enabling infrastructure operators, local authorities, and council services to gain data-driven insights and act on them promptly and effectively across various use cases such as smart homes, smart communities, smart buildings, smart cities, smart parking, smart lighting, smart traffic, and traffic signal management.

By leveraging Node.js, React, and PostgreSQL, Asatasoft was able to quickly test and deploy the platform while efficiently managing large volumes of data with high scalability.
